New file hosting service

So, recently Rapidshare decided to make it INCREDIBLY difficult for free users to download anything. Their new captcha's are not only difficult for computers to break, they are next to impossible for humans to see as well. It basically came down to random guessing.

After my brother had a hard time downloading a file from my site, I decided it was time to start looking for a new place to host my files. The first company I looked at was www.4shared.com

XP Secret Account Generator

So, I put together a program that will not only create a new administrator account on your computer, but it will also hide it so that it cannot be seen or removed. This only works with Windows XP and Windows 2000, it will not work on Vista.

Free computer advice!

Ok, so I haven't had much time to post any new material for the site, I'm actually working on a home networking tutorial to help people not only setup and configure their network but also secure it from intruders. But I've been busy with work while on co-op at the MTO and I've also been working on a few programming side projects that will probably be posted to the page when they get finished.

A little bit about the MAC Address Changer

So, I do a lot of playing around with my MAC Address changer and I've discovered a few things. First, it rocks, I love it. Second, it is a permanent change to your MAC address. And third it only really lets you change the last 10 digits. For some reason or other windows forbids the changing of the first 2 numbers. It’s probably just a limitation of the method I’m using to change it, but I don’t really see it as a problem.

Q: The projector in our classroom will not turn on. Help!

A: This is a fairly common problem at Sheridan. Infact, you have probably seen your teacher call ITSC on a regular basis, they come down and do nothing but turn it on and it works fine. Here is why. The NEC projectors have a fairly long warm up time, when turning the projectors on with the remote, you want to HOLD DOWN THE ON BUTTON FOR ATLEAST 10 SECONDS. The 10 seconds is non-negotiable, if you do not hold it for atleast that period of time, you will get no love from the project. Count missassipis, I'm serious.

Props to my buddy Addison for the new logo.

I think it looks good, but I'm still playing around with the layout to accommodate it.

Q: Sometimes my computer flashes a blue screen and then reboots, what’s wrong with it?

A: What you are experiencing is known as a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). I think that’s a fairly common term and you’ve all probably heard it before. In earlier versions of Windows this was a fairly common occurrence, but nowadays with Windows XP SP2 it usually means you have one of 3 problems.

Q: I've tried virus scanners / spybot / adaware and still my computer acts strange, what can I do?

A: If you have tried all that, you've run out of a lot of the automated processes that could help you out, these tools are good, but not everything can be automated right? If it could, I would be out of a job. Bare in mind this tutorial can get a little tricky around the end; this isn’t so much of a tutorial as it is a basic troubleshooting guide.

Profile Fixer V2

My profile fixer allows you to put your username and password into the box and you can either select Fix my profile or check space on profile. This saves you the hassle of having to SSH into atlas yourself. This program does not save any information input into it, so your information is safe. This makes fixing your profile and checking your disk space usage fast and easy.
